Finding My Community: Why Joining the Laguna Beach Chamber Has Meant So Much

When I joined the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce in June, I thought I was signing up for networking events and a few business introductions. What I didn’t expect was how personal it would become.

This season of my life feels different. I’m not rushing off to work in another city. I’m building my life — and my business — right here in Laguna Beach! Joining the Chamber ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve made for that reason alone. It rooted me deeper in the community!!

Yes, I’ve attended ribbon-cutting ceremonies and mixers at some of our favorite local restaurants. And yes, it’s been great to meet business owners and see the passion they pour into what they’re creating. But beyond that, it’s the people who’ve made it special.

The spontaneous coffee meetups. The long walks around town just talking about life. The kind of conversations that go beyond “What do you do?” and turn into “What do you care about?” That’s where real connection happens.

One of my favorite memories so far was the birthday celebration Chamber members organized for me and another member who’s now a dear friend. Being celebrated like that — in a community I’ve chosen to show up for — meant more than I can put into words. It felt welcoming. It felt genuine. It felt like I belonged.

The Chamber does such a beautiful job of bringing people together — business owners, neighbors, creatives, and even visitors from nearby cities who simply love Laguna. The events aren’t just about promotion; they’re about connection. They highlight different local spots while strengthening the relationships that make this town what it is.

Since June, I’ve gained friendships, confidence, perspective, and a stronger sense of home. Sometimes you join something thinking it’s a strategic move. And sometimes it turns into something much more meaningful.

This has been one of those times.
